2007 in Review

Well 2007 came and went. Here’s a quick list of highlights:

January 13th-15th (link to blog post): Very cold air pulled south by a strong low positioned over the four corner states results in record low temperatures for much of Southern California. A very cold low of 22.9 degrees was recorded the morning of the 14th. Multiple reports of broken water pipes due to the freeze were reported.
Here are the high and lows for the 3 days:

June 30th (blog post): Marked the end of a very dry rain season in California. Pushing the drought status to “severe”. DesertWeather.com (Thousand Palms) recorded only 29 hundredths of an inch for the rain season (June 06′ through July 07′)!

July through September: Southern California saw below normal activity of the Monsoon’s with only trace amounts recorded here on the valley floor. Temperatures were around normal with no days above 120°F. The summer high temperature was record on August 29th at 116.0°F.

November 30th (blog post): A cut off low off the coast of Northern Baja tapped into some tropical moisture and pulled it up into the valley. The rain total for DesertWeather was 1.33 inches, this storm ended a 227 day stretch with no rain and was the most rain we had seen since October 2005.
Rain totals for a few local areas were:
Palm Springs: 1.52 (record set for Nov 30th)
Thermal: 1.47 (record set for Nov 30th)
Yucca Valley: 2.24
Beaumont: .18
Idyllwild: 3.87
Pinyon: 2.47
Hemet: 2.65
Temecula: 4.16
