2006: Lightning sparked the Sawtooth Fire near Morongo Valley and the Millard Fire near Banning. The Sawtooth Fire burned 62,000 acres, caused considerable damage in Pioneertown and killed a man. The Millard Fire burned 24,000 acres.

2001: Strong thunderstorms hit the Victor and Lucerne Valleys. 0.25 inch of rain fell in five minutes at Lucerne Valley. Roads were closed due to flash flooding and mud slides. A tornado hit Twentynine Palms and Joshua Tree. Minor damage was incurred to homes and businesses in Joshua Tree.
