Tonight at 10:08pm marks the official start of winter. Winter Solstice marks the shortest day and longest night of the year. The sun appears at its lowest point in the sky around winter solstice and from today, until summer solstice around June 21st, days will begin to grow longer and nights shorter.

As predicted this storm didn’t bring much precipitation east of the mountains. For the Coachella Valley there were no measurable amounts.
Notice the greater rain amounts on this map west of the mountains.
