Whew, hot one today! Palm Springs broke a 62 year record by 5 degrees. Reached 106. 16 degrees above normal.

UPDATE TO THIS: KMIR news this evening quoted the previous record at 106. So that prompted me to double check my sources for the record and found two different results. One was 1992 at 106, and the other was 101 back in 1945. Interesting! I will amend my figure to match the National Weather Service's data (which is 1992 at 106).

I don't know who reported the high at 101 but I think the NWS is a reliable source. I agree with your decision.

The other source for the 101 record was Accuweather. They provide weather data to many!
