With this last storm I really thought we'd get some rain. The size of the storm was impressive enough. But as I followed the storm via radar as it moved in Friday afternoon, I could watch it weaken immensely as it came ashore and move across the mountains to the west of us. With it being this late in the season I doubt we'll see any more chances. We'll have to wait until July & August for the Monsoon season.

I like you was watching John. I don't have the equipment you do other than my eyes and I watched it deteriorate through out the day. Got enough rain on this end of TP to wet the ground and mess up my neighbors car. Do you know how long our aquifer can hold off these droughts?

I don't know the answer to that! I have been hearing reports for years now about how, between the increasing number of golf courses here in the valley and also the farming, the water used from the aquifers is not being replaced as fast as it is used. Most golf courses are required to use reclaimed water now because of this shortage. And if the recent prediction hold true, about how the Southwest is in for a 90 years of drought (See Story here), we are in big trouble!

Los Angeles and most of Southern California is in trouble also. With the Sierra snow pack only at 30%, and most of LA's water comes from that snow pack, experts are saying if the rest of the year is dry major water rationing will be required next year!

This discussion brings me to mention that I am working on a seperate blog page with news/updates about the drought. It will be like the coverage I did last year on Hurricane John on a separate page. (hopefully I won't have to keep updating it for 90 years Laughing )

Thanks John,

That report does not paint a pretty picture. Looking forward to your separate Blog page.
