On this day in…
1989: One of the most severe convective outbreaks of record in Southern California began on 8.7 and continued until 8.11, when it climaxed. On this day a thunderstorm unloaded torrential rains on Yuma, AZ with 5.82 inches of rain in 24 hours, a new record for the state (remarkably the normally driest part of the state) and double the seasonal average. Up to 1000 homes were flooded with water to five feet deep. On this day another thunderstorm dropped 0.75 inch hail on Desert Hot Springs.
1936: A tropical cyclone tracked north northwestward across the Gulf of California with the remnants tracking northward into western Arizona. Locally heavy rainfall occurred in the mountains surrounding LA

That is a lot of rain. Was there any damage from the hail in DHS?
Yea that is allot of rain! Can you imagine if we received that much. Tri-Palms would be washed down valley
. On that same subject of flooding, did you know that they(CV Water District) are finally making plans to start building the long proposed levee up above us here in Thousand Palms? That means no more flooding in Tri-Palms. I’ve posted the article from the CVWD in the forums: CVWD TP Levee
Your question about the hail in DHS… I don’t remember that event. I was just graduating High School and I think I had other things on my mind
