On this day in… 2006: Offshore winds blew to 40 mph in the Banning Pass. The Esperanza Fire was started by an arsonist. It eventually burned 40,200 acres from Cabazon to San Jacinto. Note the drop in surface Dew Point levels this evening around 9pm. The winds reversed from the southeast to the Northwest helping in the dry out!

Last night (Friday) we reported a gust of 47mph @ 9:11pm here in Thousand Palms! Sustained winds for most of the evening were around 35.
