This is a new feature, where from time to time, I will post an extreme event not necessarily related to the Coachella Valley but interesting to say the least.

Here we go…

Bagdad, California holds the U.S. record for continuous days without rain at 767!

    Interesting fact John. Thats a long time without rain. If you have the time, zoom in on the map you have provided and follow Bagdad Way to its end. I believe it may be part of the Military base. You will see tons of craters and I think tank tracks.

    That is the back side of the 29 Palms Marine Base. The dark areas to the right is the remnants of a volcano. Follow this link for more info on this crater.

    I had to question this fact and look up Bagdad on several maps because is looks like its in the middle of nowhere! There must be some sort of a weather station out there!
